Our Mission

Project Lot[us] serves to catalyze wellness by unifying physical, mental, and social health and provide students a peace-filled space in community.

[well]ness

Harmonious unification of physical, mental, and social health.

Physical health, mental health and social health are not separate entities. There is a positive association between improved physical health corresponding to improved mental health; thus, improved mental health corresponds to improved physical health (Julius Ohrnberger et al., 2017). Other studies correlate poor mental health with a lack of social support (Campbell et al, 2022). The direct link between physical, mental, and social health should not be overlooked.

Project Lot[us] seeks to catalyze [well]ness by unifying physical, mental and social health.

- Physical health

The function of internal and external body parts, organs, tissues and cells.

Only 1 out of 4 Americans meet the recommended activity guidelines . This means 75% of the American population may not have optimal physical health. The United States’ poor physical health is reflected in the high rate of comorbidities. â€‹

Project Lot[us] recognizes physical health as a key contributor to the vitality of an individual's wellness.

- Mental health

The brain’s influence on the ability of an individual to cope with daily stressors that present in their life.

During the 2020–2021 school year, more than 60% of college students met the criteria for at least one mental health problem. In that same time period:

  • 44% of students reported symptoms of depression.

  • 37% reported anxiety disorders.

  • 15% reported having seriously considered suicide in the past year (Kim Shine, 2023).

There is a need, and there is a cry for help. Project Lot[us] meets this cry.

- Social health

The ability to interact and create healthy and fulfilling relationships with others.

A lack of social support has led to cycles of loneliness, anxiety and depression (Campbell et al, 2022). By finding community, students can combat the potential for a lack of wellness. (Campbell et al, 2022).

Project Lot[us] provides opportunities for students to build community as they pursue wellness individually and collectively.
